At 14:30, the lecture on immigrations flows and policies by Antonello Mangano and Pietro Vallone.

Antonello Mangano, graduated in Political Science at Messina University, in Sicily, is a journalist. He collaborates with a lot of daily newpaper, such asManifesto, and web-magazine, always publishing researches, reportage, inquiries on his main topic that are migrations, anti-mafia and media-activism, free-software, alternative information systems. He is author of Gli africani salveranno l’Italia (Milan, BUR, 2010). He will present us some aspects about migrants and agriculture in South Italy, effects on the territory produced by mafia economical activities, the african presence in Rosarno as a starting point for a general rebellion, cheating italian systems and government policies.

Pietro Vallone is a PHD researcher at University of Rome, at the Science Politics faculty with a thesis on immigration and national policies of borders control. His regard on contemporary migrations is mostly related to his economical formation and his professional experiences, such as the one with the General Direction of immigration of the ministry of Employment and a program for services dedicated to foreign enterprises. He will give us a close analytical and economical point of view trough data and official statistics in order to deconstruct common stereotypes on immigration.
